PROJECT OVERVIEW

The purpose of this project was to prepare a parking demand study and queuing analysis for the submittal to the City of Avondale. A drive-through coffee shop is proposed within the parking lot of an existing Avondale Plaza. As a result, existing parking spaces will be removed with the development of the coffee shop. The City requested a parking study to determine the existing parking demand on a weekday and a Sunday due to a church located within the plaza. Historically, conducting a parking study would require multiple people counting cars and occupied parking spaces several times a day. Y2K utilized drone photography in lieu of multiple people manually counting spaces. Drones help eliminate the need for multiple people being onsite for data collection and provide the client visuals of the conditions about what is occurring at the project site.
