City of Surprise Safe Routes to School

project OVERVIEW

Y2K Engineering, as the prime consultant, brings extensive expertise in walking and bicycling safety to perform non-infrastructure SRTS studies at five local elementary schools: Marley Park, Rancho Gabriela, Parkview Elementary, Countryside Elementary, and Ashton Ranch. Execution of these SRTS studies include each of the “Six E’s” of Safe Routes to School to ensure that each study has a well-rounded, multi-prong approach to getting students safely walking and bicycling. To encourage active transportation throughout the Dysart Unified School District, an updated districtwide map of low and high stress walking and bicycling routes with identification of roadway crossing types (e.g. marked crosswalk, signal, pedestrian refuge, etc…) is also under development.
