Donald Cross serves Y2K Engineering as the Safe Routes To School (SRTS) Specialist. He comes to us from the City of Phoenix with over 20 years of experience coordinating SRTS Programs. He has been involved in Resource Development & Technical Assistance, Education Initiative, and Community & Public Engagement. He conducted school assessments which included analyzing statistics, crash data, street operations and assets, and related data. As part of the SRTS Program, Don was also responsible to maintain the school asset database that included all signage, striping, and engineering improvements.
Don has built and sustained relationships with numerous local and national organizations to share resources and best practices. These relationships include: the National Center for Safe Routes to School, Safe Routes Partnership, walkbikeplaces.org, the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP), Arizona Department of Transportation, Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Maricopa County Health and Wellness Department, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and the City of Phoenix Police and Fire Departments.
Don is a native Arizonan. He’s a lifelong musician, and has recorded over 12 albums. When he’s not jamming with his band, you’ll find Don at one of the local arenas, as he is an avid sports fan of all Arizona pro teams (even when they don’t bring home a championship).
