Job Summary

The Sr. Project Engineer position’s primary duties include working collaboratively as part of the Y2K Engineering Team. As a Sr. Project Engineer, your primary role will be to work collaboratively with other project engineers to perform analyses, participate on interdisciplinary teams, and prepare project deliverables with technical responsibilities in the following areas:

  • traffic operations analysis and simulation

  • traffic impact analysis

  • traffic engineering studies

  • transportation planning

This position requires a well-rounded and driven personality, has an entrepreneurial spirit, and enjoys project management, rolling up their sleeves to get the job done and developing new opportunities. This role will be responsible for managing technical and financial aspects of Traffic/Transportation engineering analysis with a focus on managing and developing client relationships, scheduling, and managing traffic engineering studies, and building business development opportunities with existing and new clients in the region.

Project deliverables for these positions include, without limitation, technical reports, presentation slides, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

Job duties for the position include, without limitation, data collection, field review, data analysis, construction plan and specification creation, report preparation, participation in client meetings, creation of meeting materials and minutes from client meetings, assisting other team members in project duties.

Other objectives, deliverables, and duties may be assigned to the Sr. Traffic Engineer as directed by the company from time to time.

Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a focus on Transportation or Traffic Engineering preferred and 10+ years relevant work experience as a Professional Engineer (P.E.).

or

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, a focus on Transportation or Traffic Engineering preferred and 6+ years relevant work experience as a Professional Engineer (P.E.).

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License required.

  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, a plus.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Essential Responsibilities

Performing Project Management duties on traffic/transportation projects, from the start to finish, focusing on scope, schedule, budget and safety.

  • Execute project performance and budget monitoring & reporting (internally and externally).

  • Responsible for Traffic Impact Studies, and Multi-Modal Transportation Studies.

  • Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) of project delivery.

  • Manage project teams as developed per project requirements.

  • Provide internal mentoring and leadership to future team members as assigned.

  • Write letters of agreement for all applicable work.

  • Other duties as assigned

Reporting Structure

  • This position will report to the Owner/Principal of the company.

  • Initially this position will not have direct reports but may in the future.

Travel

  • Travel will be on an as-needed basis for client meetings, project site visits or other project tasks.

Office Physical Requirements:

All positions in our office require interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting. Work required frequent and prolonged computer use. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures while in the office and visiting job sites. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; hard hat and safety vest). $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
