The Project/Traffic Engineer position’s primary duties include working collaboratively as part of the Y2K Engineering Team. Projects may include, without limitation, traffic engineering design, traffic signal design, roadway lighting design, and traffic studies.
As a Project Engineer, your primary objective is to perform a variety of traffic engineering assignments, participate on interdisciplinary teams, and prepare project deliverables with technical responsibilities in the following areas:
traffic impact analysis
traffic engineering studies
developing traffic signal plans
signing and pavement marking plan preparation
traffic operations analysis and simulation
signal timing plans
maintenance of traffic plans
transportation planning
road safety analysis
quantity tabulations
Project deliverables for these positions include, without limitation, technical reports, presentation slides, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Job duties for the position include, without limitation, data collection, field review, data analysis, construction plan and specification creation, report preparation, participation in client meetings, creation of meeting materials and minutes from client meetings, assisting other team members in project duties.
Other objectives, deliverables, and duties may be assigned to the Project/Traffic Engineer as directed by the company from time to time.
Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation or Traffic Engineering preferred.
Professional Engineering (P.E.) License required.
Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, a plus.
Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification, a plus.
Experience with Transportation, Roadway Design, or Traffic Engineering is required.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
High quality technical and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently, make sound decisions.
Ability to develop new or improved processes and/or technological methods.
Strong, effective written, verbal and public-speaking skills.
Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours when needed.
Demonstrated ability to correctly solve complex problems and issues without regular supervision.
Proficient use and fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Performing duties on traffic/transportation projects, from the start to finish, focusing on developing project deliverables as instructed.
Responsible for developing Traffic Impact Studies, Multi-Modal Transportation Studies, Transportation Safety efforts, and Traffic Signal work.
Collaborate with project teams as developed per project requirements.
Promote company culture, focused on core principles and behaviors representative of Y2K Engineering.
Remain active in the community, attending trade shows, conferences, and networking opportunities as necessary.
Responsible for maintaining all required certifications for Traffic/Transportation work in the region.

This position will report to Project Principal
This position will not have direct reports.
Travel on an as-needed basis, primarily to visit project sites within Maricopa County and (at times) throughout Arizona.
All positions in our office require interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting. Work required frequent and prolonged computer use. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures while in the office and visiting job sites. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; hard hat and safety vest).
